diary of a mad black woman.

I am a very busy person. I work full time, go to school full time, and on top of that I'm trying to maintain a healthy relationship and still have time for family & friends. If you think I've forgotten you, I haven't. Like the stars, just because you don't see me EVERYday doesn't mean I'm not there. I am truly blessed and extremely appreciative for all that I have. And while there are new additions and blessings in my life, I cherish and very often miss the old ones.

Party Warehouse volunteer.

Happy Halloween everyone!  So as you may or may not know i’ve worked at the party warehouse for some time now.  This is my 3rd halloween having worked in the store.  I’m sure any and all of my co-workers will agree with me in saying that working there makes you HATE halloween.  Between endless delivery, impatient, indecisive customers, tedious never ending cleaning up after people in the isles.  It’s just WAY too hectic and we all hate it.  Sales have been way down this year in comparison to last year, most likely due to this shit hole economy but not according to Bob & Donna, Party Warehouse owners.  Since OUR sales are down and it’s “OUR fault”, we’ve been staying open one hour later every night during the month of October (as if that’s really made any difference) meaning that on school nights the store closes at 9, by the time we get the last customers out of the store it can be as late as 9:15, finish counting the register by 9:30 or so and after closing up the store I rarely get home before 10. Add about 15 minutes to that if any retards are closing.

ANYWAY.  This week has been crazy.  As much as we hate halloween, its been a little crazy in a fun way.  We’ve had fun dressing up as whatever the hell we wanna be, and talking shit about annoying ass customers with attitude who THINK they look cuter in their costumes than they really do =P  Our broke asses have been pleased to work 8-12 hour shifts a day and don’t hesitate when overtime is an option because FOR ONCE party warehouse is not stingy with their money. YESTERDAY was madness.  I started work at 1:45 pm, and on top of my usual “not wanting to be at work” attitude was my being DEAD tired and lightweight hungover from the San Jose costume party I went to the night before AND a ton of annoying customers and questions; I was NOT a happy camper.  At least not until around 6pm..

Roland’s parents dropped him off at the store because they needed to use his car for the night.  I was so happy to see him& it was a relief being able to talk to someone who wasn’t annoyingly SERIOUSLY confused that there were NO COSTUMES LEFT THE DAY BEFORE HALLOWEEN. NO FUCKIN SHIT YOU OBLIVIOUS PROCRASTINATORS.. WHAT’D YOU EXPECT? haha but that’s besides the point.

By that time we were about 2 hours behind in lunches and I was starving.  Roland hung out in the store for a little bit and I introduced him to my co-workers who have heard SO much about him haha.  Finally it was my turn, we walked over to Chipotle and I was still in costume because i basically was so hungry I didn’t give a fuck about anything, HAH!  So we ate that outside and had a nice little romantic mexican dinner and before I knew it my 30 minutes was up=(

He walked me back to work, and as I started to help customers I noticed he was still in the store.  I was glad.  10, 15, 20 minutes passed by.. still there.  ”Babe! you can leave! you don’t have to wait for me!”  He said that it was okay and that he loved being in the store cause there was so much to look at and besides he really had no where else to go, so he stayed.  A few more minutes passed by and he comes and finds me and lets me know that a family wants to see/try on a mask thats hanging up on the wall.  I grabbed the ladder to help them and laughed because it was weird (in a good way) having him at work with me and telling ME who to help.  He held the ladder for me and my co-workers poked fun at me because they’ve never really had the chance to embarrass me when a boys around.  ”That’s soooo cute!” Hahaha.

As he hung around, Maryann, a girl I worked with jokingly said, “Give him a costume, let him help!”  Roland jumped at the opportunity by throwing on a bat man mask and asking everyone in sight if they needed help.  He was getting pretty into it and at some points it seemed that he was working harder than all of us REAL workers put together.  We were completely short staffed, the ratio of customers to employees was about a billion to one, so his help was greatly appreciated by all of us.  He would come running up to me asking me the things that he didn’t know how to answer himself then raced back to the customers to let them know.  Some of the newer employees were like who the hell is this random guy helping people?  So then I introduced them too.  Haha.  He started pulling costumes for people, he caught on INSTANTLY and even helped people in Tagolog.  ”Mmm, and he’s BILINGUAL too?!” Karen said. HAHAHA. That’s my boy!  It was so sweet of him to help us/me out since he saw how swamped we were(=  And when i was MID-SENTENCE thanking him, and telling him how cute it was that he had stayed there, he cut me off and said HOLD ON BABE, and turned around to a customer to pull a costume for them -_- hahah I guess I can’t be mad at that.  Everyone thought it was hilarious.

9 o’clock rolls around and we FINALLY get the last customers out of the store.  Some workers go upstairs to count the drawers and the rest of us were downstairs cleaning the war zone that was once a store.  Roland was still there.  Putting things back where they belong and even sweeping! haha  Around 9:15 he left to get my car from the parking garage and move it to the front so I wouldn’t have to walk far.   As soon as he left I got bombarded with questions and comments from the people I worked with.  ”Where’d you meet him? How long has it been? He’s so sweet! You guys are cute!”  The all approved of him for sure, and I thought to myself, geeeez, every where I take this guy, the people i introduce him to (sometimes he even introduces himself) ALWAYS like him. I’m so glad(=

I stopped cleaning around 930 and went upstairs to help the more senior staff count the overwhelming amount of cash & charge slips.  As I got ready to leave they all told me to thank Roland again for his help and enthusiasm.  We all laughed as we talked about the funny stories of him helping different customers.  I said bye and wished them all a Happy Halloween since I wouldn’t see them till afterward.  They did the same and then Connie, one of my managers said, “Hold on to this one Allison, he’s a really good guy, I like him.”  I smiled and said “I know, I will.  I really like him too.”

Thank you for all your help Roland(=  Reason # 7362837193470 why I like you: you do things that you don’t have to, just to make my life easier. MWAHH!
